I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. add the ability to sort/display posts by expiration date, nearest first (event list)

    Hi,

I need a category or custom type of posts that
    1. Expires at a predetermined date & time.
    2. Is displayed in order of expiration date, soonest first.

I'm sure this would be wanted a lot, but I can't find anything suitable anywhere. I have searched everywhere and every forum. I'm sorry if I've missed something previously answered here - I did look.

I don't want a calendar, just some extra functionality for posts.

As as interim, I have installed a plugin to expire the posts, but they still display in order of date published. Manually setting the publishing…

  3. Make the time until offer expires run backwards.

Instead of Wednesday May 29th, 2013 10:42pm (let's say), could you make it 3 days 5 hours, 3 minutes until post expires? (think daily deals timers).
Cheers, good jobs with the plugin

  4. Add a method to expire programatically or detect auto-created posts

It would be nice if the plugin detected any new post created, rather than only those built by pressing "New post". I use the plugin "Automatic Featured Image Posts" by Jeremy Felt (http://wordpress.org/plugins/automatic-featured-image-posts/) to auto-create posts when I uploade image batches, but they don't get the default expiry date.

The alternative would be to batch add a date in the post list or similar - I could just up the images as Drafts, select all, set date - but it'd be nice to have the plugin do it automatically.

  5. Add option to return a 410 error code upon deletion

The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.

This would be the correct procedure for SEO purposes, rather than returning a 404 error code.

  7. Filter to control which Custom Post Types expirator shows up on

Of the 7 custom post types I'm using on this site only one should have the option to be expired. I'd like a filter to control which CPTs show the Expirator metabox.

Bonus points for adding a UI to control which CPTs it shows up on.

  9. Block "Disable" choice for certain users/roles when creating a new post

Currently, when you have "Auto-Enable" turned on in the general plug-in settings, when users begins to create a new post, they have the ability to turn off the expirator.

It would be great if you could limit this option to certain users or roles, so they don't have the ability to remove the expirator from their new post.

Only should administrators and other granted roles should have the ability to alter these settings.

  10. Change title and footer when Post expires.

Please make your plugin nearly perfect by
1-Adding "EXPIRED" or any other custom word in Post title or heading after post exipre. For example, after post expiration change title from " Get 50% discount on Plugin" to "Get 50% discount on Plugin-EXPIRED"
2-After post expiration, cahnge footer from "Post expires at 10:38am on Sunday September 29th, 2013" to "Post has been EXPIRED at 10:38am on Sunday September 29th, 2013"
Both things will improve the quality of contents and less annoy the visitors.
    Thanks

  12. Setting fixed time of expiration

First of all thx for gr8 plugin!
Options to set default time for post expiration (to 23:59 or any other time and disable time from posts edit screen) so users would just have to specify date (of event) would be a great feature.

  13. Ability to expire (or auto-delete) a uploaded file

I mainly use my blog for posting news an announcements. A lot of these announcements come with PDFs or JPGs that i subsequently post on my blog. I know that the best way would be to just link these files but some people simply do not provide you with links but only sent PDFs in emails. This of course adds up and up. As well PDFs are on my webspace that are way out of date but sometimes google links to them directly. Therefore I would welcome and give a donation for a function that would allow to set a…

  16. Strikethrough text instead of deletion of post

I suggest that after expiration a post's content would be striked, instead of deleting the entire post, thus getting less 404s.

  17. Show a pop up Error Message if Post Schedule is greater than the Post Expiration date

Really wish the plugin have an error checking if when the expiration date is after the post schedule indicated by the user.

  18. repeat / re-schedule a post

    Hi there,
I have a couple of short stories. I only want 3 of them online at the same time. So I'd like to put a start and end-date to that post and need an option to repeat that every 5 weeks or so

  20. Add the option to change to a new taxonomy term upon expiration.

For example, I have a Taxonomy of Event Types that is used with my Custom Post Type called Events. Event Types are Upcoming Events and Past Events. It'd be nice to be able to change to another term within that Taxonomy, i.e. when it expires it changes from Upcoming to Past.
